You will find Year 6 in the highest part of our wonderful school building, where we enjoy spectacular views over the streets of Skipton. In Year 6 we believe that learning should be fun, challenging, hands on and exciting. We strive to develop skills of independent learning, responsibility, and being great members of a team.
Being Kind, supporting others and working hard in whatever we do is at the heart of life in Year 6.
As well as lots of Year 6 pupils, you will also find in the classroom: Mrs Macnab the Year 6 teacher and Deputy Head, and Mrs Hopwell, the Year 6 HLTA, and school council coordinator. We are lucky to have other teachers who also work in Year 6 teaching French, PE, PSHCE and RE. The Year 6 team work hard to support children in their work, make lessons interesting and exciting, as well as making the classroom and school a fantastic place to be.
Year 6 have many responsibilities around school. A key role is setting a good example to others, they also help over lunchtime with office duty, some pupils are members of the school council, digital leaders and fair trade group members. We also support and work alongside our reception buddies with lots of exciting craft and social activities. As well as our lessons we enjoy lots of exciting activities and events throughout the year including musical and drama shows, our class residential to Bewerley Park, running our own lunchtime clubs and taking part in many sporting events and competitions. If an exciting opportunity comes our way- we always say YES!
