You will find Year 6 in the highest part of our wonderful school building, where we enjoy spectacular views over the streets of Skipton. In Year 6 we believe that learning should be fun, challenging, hands on and exciting. We strive to develop skills of independent learning, responsibility, and being great members of a team.
At the beginning of the Year 6 we agree on our class rules and goals. This year they are:
You should always show respect to all.
Enjoy year 6!
Amazing work gets rewards ( this might be a class reward , or an internal reward- knowing you worked hard and did a great job!)
Recognise other peoples’ feelings
Stay silent when people are speaking
Inspire other people
Xtremely hard work is expected.
As well as lots of Year 6 pupils, you will also find in the classroom: Mrs Macnab the Year 6 teacher and Deputy Head, as well as Ms Reed, Miss Beck and Mrs Metcalfe who also help with all aspects of learning . The Year 6 team work hard to support children in their work, make lessons interesting and exciting, as well as making the classroom and school a fantastic place to be.
Year 6 have many responsibilities around school. A key role is setting a good example to others, they also help over lunchtime with office duty, some pupils are members of the school council, digital leaders and fair trade groups. We also support and work alongside our reception buddies with lots of exciting craft and social activities. As well as our lessons we enjoy lots of exciting activities and events throughout the year including musical and drama shows, our class residential to Bewerley Park, running our own lunchtime clubs and taking part in many sporting events and competitions. If an exciting opportunity comes our way- we always say YES!
