Welcome to Year 5 where the school values ‘CREATE’ are at the heart of everything we do. We love earning house points and being a part of the winning house as we then get a treat ( a visit to the park, school cinema afternoon with choc ices, baking cookies….). Our class is taught on a job share basis by Mrs Smith and Mrs Bownass.  Ms Reed and Mrs Gaunt are the class teaching assistants.

As the Playground Squad, all of Year 5 contribute towards making playtimes active, safe and fun for the whole school. We take on monitor jobs around the classroom to contribute to the smooth running of our own classroom and we also work hard to be fully involved in all of our lessons.

We respect each other, look out for each other, carry out random acts of kindness and appreciate each other’s uniqueness.

We take responsibility for our own learning. Developing the skills of enquiry whilst becoming independent learners. We cover some brilliant topics including: Earth and Space, Ancient Egypt, Africa, Skipton and the Industrial Revolution and the exciting topic of Democracy and the Monarchy which culminates in our whole class residential visit to London. Day trips along with visitors into school all help bring our learning to life.

Whether it is through completing a piece of work, competing in one of the many sporting events, performing as part of a school production or entering a competition. We always aspire to be the best we can be.

Our lessons are planned to incorporate as many opportunities for teamwork as possible. We learn to be tolerant of each other, appreciate each other’s skills and solve problems together. Year 5 are a great team, with every single member being vitally important to the smooth running of our class.

Most importantly Year 5 is all about fun and enjoying what we do. Happy pupils will CREATE memory alongside memories.
