We want children to feel proud to be part of our community.  Our uniform is very practical and serves the purpose of fostering a sense of belonging to Water Street School.

If you are wishing to purchase uniform with the school logo, it is readily available from Skip 2 School www.skiptoschool.co.uk and Venn Embroidery www.vennembroidery.co.uk/collections/water-street-school-uniform

School Uniform

  • Grey/Black Trousers or Shorts
  • Dark Grey Pinafore or Knee Length Skirt
  • Checked Skirts or Pinafore Dresses • Blue and White Gingham Dress (Summer Only)
  • White Short-Sleeved Polo Shirt
  • Royal Blue School Sweatshirt or Cardigan

  • Sandals in summer should be flat and not ornate, ideally with covered toes

All children should also bring:

  • A named water bottle, taken home each day for washing

PE Uniform

  • PE T-Shirt in house colour
  • Black or navy-blue shorts
  • School PE Hoodie
  • Plain black or dark jogging bottoms
  • Trainers
  • Hair longer than shoulder length should be tied back for PE.

Please note children in Years 1 – 6 are to come to school dressed in their PE kit on PE days.  Children in Reception will get changed into their PE kits at school, so will need to bring them in in a separate bag. You will be notified in September of which day your child’s class will take part in PE.

Jewellery, Hair Ornaments, Make-up and Nail Varnish

For health and safety reasons, we do not allow children to wear jewellery. The exception to this rule are stud earrings and a basic watch.

Children are required to remove any items during PE lessons to prevent them from causing injury. Your child’s class teacher will advise you when PE lessons are to take place.

Please note: Teachers are not permitted to remove earrings. If children cannot remove their own earrings, they will be asked to cover them with medical tape.

Hair bands, ribbons/bows or ‘scrunchies’ should be plain and either blue, white, or black. Hair bands should not have objects attached to them such as flowers.

Make-up and nail varnish should not be worn to school unless for an out of school hours function, for example a school disco.

Pupils are free to wear a headscarf or other hair coverings for religious reasons at school if they wish to. These must however be plain and either white, blue or black.

Footwear

For health and safety reasons, we do not allow pupils to wear shoes with platform soles or high heels.

Pupils are to wear flat, plain black shoes or trainers without logos. These should be closed in with no toes visible.

Sandals should ideally have covered toes and flip-flops are not permitted due to health and safety reasons.

Adaptations for Weather

In the cold weather, particularly in the winter months, children are expected to wear coats and are permitted to wear a hat/ear-muffs, scarf and gloves.

Please ensure that all items are clearly named. Items such as polo-shirts / short-sleeved shirts, tailored shorts and summer dresses are all appropriate in the hot weather.
