At Water Street School, every pupil in Key Stage 2 has a weekly French lesson, with our French subject specialist teacher. We use the North Yorkshire "Scheme of Languages" to develop a progressive approach which engages learning and enthuses pupils' love of languages. Our lessons include songs, and rhymes, games and conversations! As well as our weekly lessons, we also use French phrases during the register and as part of our classroom conversations. We also revisit topics we have taught in other years, using Purple Mash. As part of our programme of curriculum enrichment we often celebrate European Day of Languages
We have recently been working with Madam Lagrange, French specialist from Ermysted's Grammar School, who has been leading French conversation activities with pupils in Year 5 and 6.
