Hi, I am a co-opted governor who has two children that previously attended Water Street. I have been a governor since September 2016 and prior to that I was a parent governor at Otley Street Nursery School. I work for KPMG and have responsibility for the learning of our audit practice there. As an ex-auditor I naturally have an interest in the financial management of the school, however, the more involved I become in school governing the more I am taking an interest in other areas, for example in the development of the staff. I am passionate about ensuring the on-going success of our school, by continuing to challenge how we can improve, whilst also supporting the Water Street team.

I am in my eighth year as a parent at Water Street and have been part of the school community for a long time. I’ve been heavily involved in the Friends of Water Street (FoWS) since my son started in Reception, and although I’ve taken a small step back since joining the governing body, I still play an active role - particularly in leading the annual Christmas raffle. I’ve organised it for the past eight years, and it continues to be one of FoWS’ biggest fundraising events of the year.

My older son has now moved on to high school, and I still have a child at Water Street who has another four years ahead, keeping me closely connected to the school community.

I became a Parent Governor in December 2023, and I’m proud to support the school in this way. Outside of my governor role, I run my own photography business and enjoy being part of our local community. I’m friendly, approachable, and committed to supporting the school.

Hi I'm Victoria and I am lucky enough to have a little girl who attends Water Street School. She has very much enjoyed her first 2 years at the school and it has become a very special place for both her and myself as a parent.

I feel privileged to have become a Parent Governor and I am looking forward to seeing what the next few years will bring for the school and to see what support I can bring to the staff both old and new.

My previous roles have been extremely varied but have included many managerial roles and I hope some of the skills I have developed over the years will help me in this new role as Parent Governor.

Hello, I’m Kate Jackson and I was lucky enough to work at Water Street for nearly six years both as a Teaching Assistant and Teacher. It has been a very special place for both me and my youngest son who very much enjoyed his junior years there. I am now a Trainee Therapeutic Play Practitioner and am delighted to continue working with the school in my new role.

I have worked in education since I trained as a teacher after leaving university and have experienced many roles from librarian to Local Authority teacher-advisor. I hope that this will help me as a Governor to understand the roles within school and to support all staff – I have seen first-hand their commitment to the school, and they are all a very skilled and valuable resource.

I very much hope that children at Water Street will flourish as they develop confidence and security in who they are and their unique place in the world.
